Breath clean homes scheme offers up to 25% off rent from its partners by making carbon-emission reduction its priority
Breathe easy with 0% APR until 2023
A home energy company has announced it will offer a 0% interest rate on rents until 2023 in its first attempt to tackle climate change through its customer base.
Mercator Direct said it will be the first energy supplier to offer such a deal.
“We are seeing larger, longer term renewable initiatives being brought forward because they are helping us cut emissions and protect the planet,” said CEO Dominic Covey.
“It means it is fitting that we are the first provider to offer a zero-interest rent for a fixed term to people at home with us.”
Covey said the scheme, which offers up to 25% off rent, was in line with its core values as a business, as well as company policy and in line with an energy company’s responsibility to its customers.
Mercator has six home improvements a year, leading to 25,000 pounds of savings per home.
It is spending £1.4m to clean 80,000 “non-gross” homes (such as those with solar panels, energy-efficient appliances and insulation).
The scheme will be available to UK customers, though specific locations have not been announced.
