At least five people were killed in a suspected murder-suicide in a home where an Orlando-area television affiliate crew was conducting a report on the weekend, police say.
The crew from WKMG-TV, which is based in Orlando, Fla., had gone to a detached home to report about a fire there, but found what authorities described as a “complete mass or mass murder,” The Orlando Sentinel reported.
Authorities are not revealing details about how the five victims, including a woman who was found dead inside the home, died. It’s unclear how many people were in the home when the tragedy occurred, but police spokesman Capt. Jim Young said he is “pretty certain” it was more than one person.
“There were hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of items on the property,” Young said, adding that the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived.
The newspaper reported that two of the victims were the subjects of restraining orders and described the area where the bodies were found as “impassable.” The Times County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to investigate.
