UFC President Dana White said last week that the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next championship fight will be slated for early August. And it looks like that fight will be between the two men with the highest PPV potential, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
Expect to see Nurmagomedov vs McGregor in Las Vegas on August 26.
A pair of title fights on tonight’s pay-per-view card took place tonight at UFC Fight Night from Detroit.
Ukrainian fighter Artem Lobov is the defending lightweight champion. He defeated Yancy Medeiros by knockout at 1:31 of the first round.
Lobov, who has not fought since October of 2016, credited his training camp for this victory. “We were on stage a week before, and it was 3rd week in the gym. It took a lot of pressure off. It was nice to come off that and back into training.”
Tony Ferguson is the 155-pound interim champion. He defeated Donald Cerrone by unanimous decision.
Lobov’s win puts him in line for a shot at the number one ranked fighter in the division.
